Why I Wrote The ABC Sound Book?
Author’s Note
As a child, I was fascinated by books with rhymes. I remember reading or listening to them in awe! The rhythm, the wonder, the joy of words dancing on the page…
How could those mesmerizing stories be written in such a rhythmic way? How could they find just the right words every single time? There was true magic in them, and it stayed with me.
As an adult, I’ve discovered I wasn’t the only child captivated by them. That’s why children have been learning through nursery rhymes for generations! That’s why songs are such a powerful tool in early learning, too!
When it comes to learning to read, reading rhyming books from an early age helps build your child’s phonological awareness, a key precursor to phonics. On the other hand, stories with alliteration (those that repeat the same sounds at the beginning of consecutive words, like “Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers”) are also fantastic for pre-readers. They help children tune into specific sounds in a fun and memorable way.
So… an idea struck! Why not bring to life stories that combine both rhyme and alliteration? So, I challenged myself to write one for every letter of the alphabet to help children learn the sounds in a fun, engaging, but also very natural way.
Another goal with these stories was to leave children in awe (just like I was as a child!) or simply to put a smile on their face. That became my final twist to the challenge: to make the stories fun, educational, and delightful. I wanted them to feel like those timeless stories I used to read, where there was always a lesson to be learned, a smile to be put on my face, or even a burst of laughter.
Even today, when I read those rhyming books, I feel transported—like I’m inside those fables and tales, usually surrounded by green fields and adorable animals. That’s the power they still have over me!
Helping your child develop pre-reading skills and preparing them for formal reading instruction can be a joyful experience. I created this book with a clear purpose: to support your child in learning letter sounds. But that doesn’t mean it can’t also be fun, or a special bonding moment between you and your child.
Let this book help you on that journey.
Who is This Book For?
This book is designed especially for parents of pre-readers and early readers, caregivers, homeschoolers…
Whether you’re preparing your child for formal reading instruction or simply looking to build a love for language and storytelling, this book will be a beautiful part of your daily reading routine.
The sound repetition, the rhythm, the tongue twisters, the fun and playful stories… all of these elements combined will help your child fall in love with letters and their sounds—and with storytime.

Hey there! I’m Laura – an author, YouTuber, blogger, and the creator of the “Learning Reading Hub” platform. I created this space to dive into the world of reading instruction and to shout from the rooftops about how vital it is to use the right methods for teaching reading. I’ve got a TEYL certification (Teaching English to Young Learners), plus a Journalism degree from the University of Navarra in Spain, along with a Master’s Degree in Communication.
I’ve always loved digging into research, jotting down my thoughts, connecting with people, and sharing what makes me tick. With a background in marketing, digital projects, and the education scene (especially language learning), I’m all about wearing different hats.
When my first kid needed to learn how to read, it opened my eyes to the challenges and complexities involved. This journey took me through a rollercoaster of self-teaching, eye-opening discoveries, and yeah, some letdowns too. There’s so much conflicting info out there, along with methods that just don’t cut it. And let’s face it, these issues are way too common.
Now, I’m all about channeling that passion (without sounding like a know-it-all!) and sharing my journey. My mission? Making it easier for those who are on the same path I once was.
My heart’s with my family and the amazing Learning Reading Hub project. I live with my husband and two little ones, raising them in a bi-lingual environment (English and Spanish).
